About Me
My name is Sydney Eliot-Wilson and I am a multimedia journalist based in Toronto. I have experience reporting for multiple publications including Capital Current, Roots Music Magazine and RANGE Magazine. After completing my Bachelor's Degree in Media, Information and Technoculture at the University of Western Ontario in 2022, I worked in communications before attending Carleton University for my Master of Journalism. While at Carleton I gained experience in various news room settings including contributing to and producing news broadcasts. My interest in arts, culture and music journalism has allowed me to cover a variety of events and connect with several Canadian artists. I am proficient at producing high quality work under tight deadlines, while maintaining an eye for detail and editorial standards. In the summer of 2025 I covered the Ottawa Bluesfest music festival in its entirety, delivering print-ready stories daily. Currently I work full time as a communications coordinator for a housing non-profit in the Greater Toronto Area. I also regularly publish personal essays on my Substack newsletter entitled "Thursday's Child."
